THE FIRST CAPUCHIN'S CONVENT WAS BUILT IN 1725 IN LHASA !

Friar Horace from Pennabilli and friar Joachim from Esanatoglia obtained a special permission thanks to their economic position to purchase a part of land where the convent and the church could be built.

In 1745 Capuchin friars abandoned their mission and the construction was entirely destroyed by furious monks. Tale says that the Tibetan Holy Scriptures of Kanghiur were completely buried under the floor so that everyone in the convent trampled on them.
Many studies tried to localize the real position of the convent, but it was impossible. Everybody knows that it was situated close to Mo-ru monastery, in the North-East of city and few hundreds meters away from Jokang.

Friar Cassiano Beligatti from Macerata shows this plant and the relative description contained in his Journal (1741).

Studio Modo of Rimini has created schemes in plan and in front figure basing on friar Cassiano's description.

Mr. L. Petech has given us the following documents contained in his extraordinary work entitled "I missionari italiani nel Tibet e nel Nepal":
